7 Simple Solutions for Winter Bible Study

12/31/2017

If one of your goals for 2018 is to build your faith, getting into a Bible study is a great way to do that.

Best of all? It doesn't have to be difficult OR time-consuming. Just a little focused, intentional time can do wonders for your relationship with Christ. (My phone images are another way to keep God in your thoughts.)

Today I'm sharing 7 simple ways you can get into God's word and make Him a top priority for 2018:

1. Discerning the Voice of God (Priscilla Shirer)

This is a bible study is sponsored by Lifeway Women. It's completely free, except for the cost of the book, which is about $18.00. All of the teaching videos are included for free.

The study lasts 7 weeks and kicks off on January 18. Click here to register.

2. Memorize Galatians (with Beth Moore)

Memorizing scripture has been a part of my life for several years. My favorite memorized passages are Psalm 91 and Romans 8. (And yes - that last chapter took a LONG time to memorize, but was totally worth it!)

If you've never devoted time to memorizing scripture, I encourage you to give it a try. It's a great way to hide God's word in your heart and it's simple to work on during the day.  (Maybe I'll do another post showing you my notecards and tips to help with memorizing.)

Beth Moore is starting a Galatians challenge in 2018. You can watch the video below to get more information. This FB group is where updates will be posted.

(Note: If you're new to memorizing scripture, I recommend starting slow so you don't get overwhelmed. Maybe choose one chapter as a goal and go from there. Slow and steady wins the race!)

3. Good Morning Girls (Romans Study)

Courtney Joseph of Women Living Well will be leading this study on her website. Every week you'll get discussion questions, a printable memory verse, a devotional, and a video - all for free!

You can also buy this pretty journal, but it's not required.

If you're interested in starting your own Good Morning Girls group, you can get the leaders manual here.

This study kicks off January 15th - you can read all about it here.

4. "I Am Loved" (Proverbs 31 Ministries)

This study revolves around the book I Am Loved by Wendy Blight. The book walks you through 1 John and focuses on God's unconditional love.

There will be blogs posts to read throughout the study and you can also join small groups on FB. The study starts on January 22nd. Click here for more information.

5. She Reads Truth

There are several studies to choose from at She Reads Truth. The study of Matthew kicks off today and on January 29th, they'll start studying 1 & 2 Thessalonians. Find out more here.

(Note - you don't have to buy their journal to participate. You can still access their devotional content for free.)

They also have great apps for women AND the men in your life.

6. Write the Word Journals

If you enjoy writing in pretty journals like I do, the Write the Word Journals might be perfect for your quiet time.

Each journal has scripture selections for you to write out, but there's room for so much more! You'll find space to write down your blessings, a prayer, or anything else that comes to mind.

If you're looking to cultivate joy, faith, gratitude, hope, or renewal, then you'll love these books. I've used the Cultivating Joy journal during my morning quiet time and really enjoyed it. (Learn how I established my early morning routine here.)

7. Your local church

If you're part of a church, I'm sure there are Bible studies going on there that you can get involved in.

If you're not active in a church, then I encourage you to find a good Bible believing church and see what studies they have going on.

I truly believe that building a relationship with Christ is the most important thing you can do.

I hope that in the New Year, we can all reflect Jesus to our students in a gentle way.

I recently put together a printable PDF with ideas of how to do that. Click here to access the download.

Thank you for this list! I’m excited to join the Galatians memory challenge with Beth Moore for this year! Already setting specific goals for this quarter. Chapters 1 - 2:10 done by the end of March. Here’s to hiding the word of God in our hearts!

Hi Amy! Thanks for your sweet comment! I'm so excited that you're memorizing Galatians. That's a BIG deal! Honestly, I'm still on the fence about it. I might only memorize chapter 5. Hoping to finalize my 1st quarter goals today!!

Hi Tracy! I am so glad I discovered you! I have been teaching piano for over 45 years and have been "planting seeds" very similar to you for all of that time. It is amazing to watch these children grow up into adults who are now using their piano skills to serve God and help lead in worship in their churches. It has been such a tremendous blessing in my life! All I can say is "keep on keeping on!!!"
